Chesapeake NetCraftsmen is looking to recruit some exceptional people. We are currently looking for:

Senior Unified Communications Architect ( PDF version)
NetCraftsmen seeks a Senior Unified Communications (UC) Architect in the Washington DC Metro Area to lead design and development of UC solutions to meet customer business requirements. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand customer needs from a technical and business perspective, architect solutions to support those needs, and lead a dynamic team to implement the strategic architecture.

The Senior UC Architect will work independently and with other engineers to provide exceptional service to clients, and to internally contribute to the NetCraftsmen UC practice. This responsibility includes identifying areas of business growth through technology, researching vendor products, and developing solutions that bridge business needs with vendor products.

The Senior UC Architect should be able to support the sales and delivery process. This position requires approximately 20-30% pre-sales and 70-80% post-sales delivery.

Candidate responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with customer decision makers, NetCraftsmen account managers, Cisco account teams, and partners to identify technical and business requirements
  • Assist in developing responses to RFPs and RFQs
  • Assist in writing and presenting statements of work to prospective clients
  • Develop high level architectural designs and provide authoritative review of generated BoMs
  • Lead efforts in developing detailed design for Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Unity, UCCX, MeetingPlace, and collaboration technologies
  • Lead efforts in integrating Cisco UC technologies with Cisco and 3 rd party advanced communications applications
  • Develop and deliver project documentation
  • Provide a leadership role to other NetCraftsmen consultants
  • Provide an escalation point for troubleshooting service impacting issues
  • Able to demonstrate technology features and products to audiences with varying levels of technical proficiency

Candidate Certifications:

  • Minimum CCNP or equivalent experience, CCIE R&S is a plus
  • Minimum CCVP, CCIE Voice is desirable
  • MCSE or equivalent experience is a plus

Candidate Experience:

  • Candidate should have at least 10 years of industry experience with at least 5 years experience with Cisco voice applications and technologies
  • At least 6 years of designing, implementing, and supporting IP enabled networks
  • Technical writing experience and good organizational skills are required
  • Experience with developing applications using the Cisco SOAP/AXL API or Cisco Unified Applications Environment is a plus
  • Candidate should have in depth understanding and experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity, Cisco Contact Center Express (UCCX), and Cisco voice gateway technologies
  • Experience with at least two Cisco advanced technologies is desirable
  • Experience with VoWLAN, SCCP, SIP, H.323, and MGCP is required
  • Ability to perform protocol analysis for Cisco voice protocol stacks is a plus
  • Pre-sales and presentation experience is a plus

Unified Communications Engineer ( PDF version)
NetCraftsmen seeks a Unified Communications (UC) Engineer in the Washington DC Metro Area to work with customers to design, implement, and support Cisco UC applications. The successful candidate must be able to work in a team environment and have the ability to independently resolve issues.

The UC Engineer will primarily work under the guidance of a UC Architect, but will also be required to provide leadership and direction for implementation teams.

Candidate responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to detailed design development for Cisco UC applications
  • Install, maintain, and operate core Cisco call processing applications, Cisco messaging applications, and Cisco gateway technologies
  • Assist customers with troubleshooting and issue resolution
  • Develop documentation as it relates to project requirements
  • Assist with developing customer facing presentations of technology solutions
  • Research and analyze existing software releases and services patches as well as performing software installs based on recommendations
  • Develop detailed implementation and test plans for implementing Cisco UC technologies
  • Provide knowledge transfer and informal training to clients

Candidate Certifications:

  • Minimum CCVP or CCNP or equivalent experience
  • MCSE or equivalent experience is a plus

Candidate Experience:

  • Candidate must demonstrate proficiency with fundamental networking principals such as IP addressing, VLAN separation, QoS, and network layer security as it applies to voice technologies
  • Candidate should have 8 years of industry experience with at least 2 years experience with Cisco voice applications and technologies
  • Candidate should have fundamental understanding and experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity, Cisco Contact Center Express (UCCX), and Cisco voice gateway technologies
  • Candidate should have sufficient understanding of LAN/VLAN technologies such as spanning tree, 802.1q as well as a working knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting IGP routing protocols such as OSPF and EIGRP
  • Experience with SCCP, SIP, H.323, and MGCP is required
  • Ability to perform protocol analysis for Cisco voice protocol stacks is a plus
  • Pre-sales experience is a plus

Senior Internetworking Engineer
This individual will work directly with clients to analyze, design, develop and deploy networks and computer systems solutions for a large government entity. You will provide expert level technical advice and know-how, as well as maintain responsibility for the ultimate transfer of knowledge to client staff. This position also requires the ability to work closely with clients in demanding situations while maintaining a focus on quality solutions.

Applicants for this position must have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or a related discipline, and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience with demonstrated highest level of technical achievements in complex networking environments. Current Cisco certifications are required. CCIE certification is preferred.

Senior Security Consultant
This individual will work with clients to analyze, design and deploy network security solutions and services. You will conduct system security needs assessment, intrusion and vulnerability analysis, and system-wide risk management assessments. You will also research and document high-performance hardware and software solutions, then work with client staff to promptly deploy those solutions. The person in this position will also be required to draft new security policies and procedures, ensuring the ongoing integrity of the solution.

Applicants for this position must have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or a related discipline, and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience with demonstrated highest level of technical achievements in complex networking environments. Current Cisco certifications are required. CCIE certification is preferred.

Network Engineer - MD, Baltimore and East Beltway
If you enjoy working with the experts, at Chesapeake NetCraftsmen you’ll be challenged to apply your specialized understanding of medium-to-large enterprise networks. You’ll be using your knowledge to design, build, install, implement and trouble-shoot complex networking environments. Your ability to efficiently multi-task within diverse client environments will be the key to quality performance.

You will work with clients in the greater Washington DC and Maryland area out of your “virtual” home-based office. Typically, you will commute to a client site, but you MUST have flexibility for occasional travel (estimated at 10-25%).

What you will do:
• Design, install, integrate, implement and trouble-shoot medium-to-large networking environments
• Apply in-depth knowledge of routing and switching protocols at multiple client sites
• Knowledge transfer – help develop customers’ understanding of their networks

Skills you will need:
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Consultative aptitude for working with clients
• Strong working knowledge of the major networking protocols (STP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, etc.)

Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• More than 5 years of progressively responsible experience in implementing mid-size to large Network Management Systems
• Cisco Certifications:
Required: CCNA or CCNP
Optional: CCDP
Preferred: Having or working on CCIE is a big plus
